New stays, refreshed experiences and the return of Dubai’s mountain season from 28 September 2026
Quick Take
Dubai’s outdoor season is returning, and Hatta is preparing to welcome visitors back.
Hatta Resorts and Hatta Wadi Hub will reopen for Season 9 from 28 September 2026, introducing new heritage accommodation, upgraded lodges and refreshed outdoor experiences across one of Dubai’s most distinctive mountain destinations.
Among the highlights are two restored heritage trailers, upgraded Premier Lodges, including two with private plunge pools, and the upcoming Caravan Hatta by Our Habitas overlooking Hatta Dam.
For families, couples, residents and visiting guests looking for a change from Dubai’s beaches, hotels and city attractions, Hatta offers something different: mountain scenery, outdoor experiences and the opportunity to slow down, all within approximately 90 minutes of central Dubai.
But a successful Hatta escape requires more than simply choosing a room.
Accommodation style, activity availability, accessibility, transport and the needs of individual guests can all influence the experience.
Here is what to know before planning a visit.
What Is New for Season 9?
Dubai Holding announced the Season 9 reopening on 16 September 2026, confirming several additions across Hatta Resorts and Hatta Wadi Hub.
One of the most distinctive is the introduction of two restored heritage trailers.
Route 1948 is an original 1948 coach transformed into a compact 15.4-square-metre retreat designed for two guests.
The 1958 Coach offers a slightly larger 23.23-square-metre space, also accommodating two.
Both feature a queen bed, seating area, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, television, mini-fridge and a private outdoor barbecue area.
These are not conventional hotel suites, and that is precisely part of their appeal.
For couples or individual travellers who value character, privacy and an unusual stay over extensive indoor space, the heritage trailers offer a distinctive way to experience Hatta.
More Privacy in the Mountains
Existing accommodation has also received upgrades ahead of the new season.
Lodges and outdoor spaces have been refreshed with updated interiors, furnishings, seating and landscaping.
Notably, two of the seven Premier Lodges will feature private plunge pools, creating a more secluded option for guests who want additional privacy and comfort.
Another development to watch is Caravan Hatta by Our Habitas.
Planned to overlook Hatta Dam, the new concept is expected to offer an expanded trailer-accommodation experience together with a swimming pool, dining concept and communal facilities.
There is, however, an important distinction for guests planning early-season visits.
Dubai Holding has described Caravan Hatta as an upcoming addition rather than confirming that it will open alongside the rest of the destination on 28 September.
Guests interested specifically in this experience should therefore confirm its official opening date before arranging their trip around it.
Which Hatta Experience Is Right for You?
Hatta should not be approached as a traditional single-resort holiday.
Part of its appeal is the ability to combine different accommodation styles with mountain scenery, outdoor activities and attractions across the wider destination.
The right choice therefore depends on who is travelling and what kind of experience they want.
Couples may appreciate the character of the heritage trailers or the added privacy of a lodge with a plunge pool.
Families should look beyond the photographs and consider sleeping arrangements, room capacity, accessibility and proximity to activities.
Larger groups may find that booking several units or considering camping options provides greater flexibility.
And an overnight stay is not essential.
Hatta can also work well as a day trip from Dubai, combining scenic stops, walking or cycling, lunch and selected activities at Hatta Wadi Hub.
For guests who have the time, however, staying overnight allows for a slower pace, particularly during the early morning and evening, when the mountain setting can be enjoyed away from the rhythm of a typical day excursion.
What Can Visitors Do?
Season 9 also marks the return of Hatta’s outdoor experiences.
Visitors can explore hiking and mountain-biking trails alongside a range of activities at Hatta Wadi Hub.
Many activities are suitable for guests aged six and above, although individual experiences may carry additional age, height or ability requirements.
For families, this is worth checking in advance.
Rather than building an itinerary first and discovering restrictions on arrival, activity selection should ideally be based on the ages and abilities of everyone travelling.
There is also an important timing consideration for guests visiting at the very beginning of the season.
While Hatta Resorts will accept stays from 28 September, current Visit Hatta planning information states that the majority of Hatta Wadi Hub activities operate from 1 October to 5 May.
Guests booking between 28 September and the beginning of October should therefore confirm which activities, restaurants and facilities will actually be operational during their stay.
Season 9 is also expected to include outdoor and endurance events, including Ultra Trail Dubai in November, with additional seasonal activities expected to be announced.
Planning the Journey from Dubai
Hatta Resorts is approximately 90 minutes from central Dubai, although actual journey times depend on the starting point and traffic conditions.
For most families, groups and visiting guests, a private car or pre-arranged transfer is likely to be the most convenient option.
Transport, however, is only one part of the planning.
A well-organized Hatta stay may also involve coordinating check-in times, meals, activity reservations and any additional stops guests would like to make across the wider Hatta area.
Comfortable outdoor clothing, suitable footwear and sun protection are advisable.
Temperatures can feel cooler than central Dubai, particularly during the early morning and evening, but hydration and protection from the sun remain important.
Accessibility and Family Considerations
Guests travelling with infants, older relatives or People of Determination should consider accessibility before selecting accommodation.
According to Visit Hatta, Hatta Wadi Hub can be accessed by wheelchair.
Some resort accommodation, however, is positioned on rocky terrain, meaning hotel vehicles or buggy assistance may be required depending on the guest and the location of the room.
Families travelling with young children may also find a large-wheeled stroller more practical than a lightweight city model.
These details can appear minor when booking online, but they can make a considerable difference once guests arrive.
Travelling With Pets
Pet arrangements should also be checked carefully.
Pets are not permitted inside Hatta Resorts.
Visit Hatta states that pets may be permitted outside the Wadi Hub venue, while dogs may accompany guests during Hatta Kayak under certain conditions, including remaining under control and wearing a life vest.
As operational policies can change, guests planning to travel with pets should reconfirm the latest requirements directly before departure.
Where Concierge Support Adds Value
Hatta is close enough to Dubai to feel spontaneous.
But the experience becomes considerably smoother when the practical details are handled before the journey begins.
For families and private clients, concierge support can help with:
- selecting accommodation according to privacy, family size and accessibility requirements;
- arranging a suitable vehicle and driver;
- building an activity programme around the ages and interests of individual guests;
- coordinating restaurants, meals and special occasions;
- confirming operational dates for new facilities and seasonal activities; and
- creating a wider Hatta itinerary without making the visit feel rushed.
This can be particularly useful for international visitors who may not immediately understand the distinction between Hatta Resorts, Hatta Wadi Hub, Hatta Dam and the wider Hatta destination.
The objective is not necessarily to fit more into the trip.
It is to make the experience easier.
A Different Side of Dubai
Dubai is often associated with its skyline, beaches, luxury hotels and fast-moving city lifestyle.
Hatta offers another side of the emirate.
Mountains replace towers. Outdoor trails replace shopping malls. And the pace becomes noticeably slower.
Season 9 introduces additional comfort and choice while preserving the nature-led character that makes the destination distinctive.
For guests considering a visit, the best approach is to plan around the people travelling rather than around a long list of attractions.
Choose the right accommodation. Confirm what will be operating. Allow enough time to enjoy the surroundings. And resist the temptation to fit every activity into a single visit.
For couples, families and visiting guests looking for a more grounded escape from the city, Hatta’s return on 28 September 2026 marks a welcome start to Dubai’s outdoor season.
